The Colorado Film Commission
is a private, non-profit organization that supports the creation of economic activity in all sectors of the film industry in Colorado. This industry includes all aspects of creating feature films, television, commercials, still photography, and video games. A few of these facets are:
  • education about film in general
  • development of local talent in acting, scriptwriting, production, and videography
  • development of a "film-friendly" destination for Hollywood, including competitive tax rebates
  • opportunities for international filmmakers

Paramount Pictures will film a major motion picture in Denver

Governor Bill Ritter (D-Colorado) and the Colorado Film commission confirmed on Wednesday that Paramount Pictures will film a major motion picture in Denver later this year. The motion picture, which will star Eddie Murphy, is described as a dark comedy. The film will be directed by Karey Kirkpatrick whose last film was the animated Dreamworks feature "Over The Hedge." The film is being produced by Di Bonaventura Pictures.

Governor Signs Bill to Expand Funding for Colorado Film Incentive Program

Governor Ritter signed House Bill 1206, the Colorado Film Incentive Expansion Bill, on Thursday, May 24th that increases Colorado's Film Incentive Fund by 20% from $500,000 to $600,000 annually. The bill was sponsored in the House of Representatives by Tom Massey and Cheri Jahn and in the State Senate by Senator Bob Hagedorn.
